Bunk news - why... ohhhh why????

The best news that I have to offer this time is the last one in this post. Not that the rest is not interesting but here I have a story to tell... it will also be in portuguese so that I can broadcast a message to my wary family.
It seems that my the pictures I posted here for some reason don't show up. I have no idea what is going on, but for now I will just share with you the latest technological feats:

Milestone for giant physics lab.

A CIA kidnap victim asks why the U.S. won't admit its error. Maybe because the americans are stupid ego-centric idots? Of course not all of them... But at least the ones in the goverment.

How the world really shapes up. Rather than defining each country by size, these computer-generated modified maps redraw the globe with each country's size proportionate to its strengths, or weaknesses, in a whole series of categories. Like the example below: War and death.


Why the media passes off bunk as news. "Sometimes there just isn't anything substantial going on. But the mass media, like nature, abhor a vacuum. Journalists have developed proven techniques to fill it." ... "The good news is that every journalist I've talked to agrees this is a problem that's getting worse and they're not happy about it. They didn't go to graduate school to spend their time researching and writing about nuts who think Noah's Ark is visible from space on a mountain in Iran or what Brad Pitt thinks about stem-cell research."... "It's looking more and more as though the age of impartial journalism was a temporary blip in history whose reign ended a few years ago when the Internet turned news consumption from all-inclusive (per newspaper) to a la carte (per story)."

I will also write this in portuguese for some other gullible persons that still take everything that they see written as a fact:

Eles não concluiram um curso universitário para passar o tempo a investigar e escrever à cerca de um maluco que pensa que a arca de noé é visível do espaço sobre uma montanha no Irão ou o que o Brad Pitt pensa sobre a investigação com células embrionárias."... "Parece que mais e mais a época do jornalismo imparcial foi apenas um curto período temporário na história, cujo o reino acabou uns anos atrás quando a Internet tornou o consumo de notícias de um tudo-inclusive (por jornal) para à la carte (por história)."
PS - Isso inclui este blog como um local para boas notícias.
A mensagem que deixo á minha familia, é a seguinte: Já li o artigo sobre o peixe cru, "Estudo identifica parasitas da cavala".
E o resultado não é "comer peixe cru faz muito mal á saúde e deve evitar-se", apesar da jornalista Teresa Florença ter-se esforçado para criar sensacionalismo com estas 4 paginas, em particular com a triste escolha do parágrafo que realça a existência dos parasitas na natureza (Surpresa!!!).
O que o artigo descreve é o estudo realizado pela Investigadora Graça Costa, que catalogou exactamente os parasitas em questão, os seus hospedeiros e como funcionam. Um trabalho limpo, prático, importante e definitivamente NÃO sensacionalista.
Pergunto-me se realmente leram o artigo, ou simplesmente as letras grandes? Pois em lado nenhum está escrito que não se deve comer peixe cru.
O único paragrafo que [propositadamente] poderá induzir em erro é: "Os que se encontram com maior frequência e podem ter implicações na saúde pública [...] Prendem-se à mucosa do estômago por um pequeno dente que possuem na parte anterior, provocando reacções no organismo, como úlceras e gastroenterites. Para o tratamento a medicina recorre a medicamentos e nos casos mais graves à intervenção cirúrgica, no sentido de removê-los"
Ora bem, isso não é nada de fantástico ou de novo, basta observar o problema com a carne de porco mal preparada, que é uma ténia nos indestinos instântanea. Mas ninguém no seu perfeito juízo considera comer peixe, carne porco ou vaca em más condições.
Resumindo e concluindo: É um artigo sensacionalista pouco interessante que estão a "comer".
Os meus hábitos alimentares permanecem inalterados.
