Science and technology to open this new post.
I've given up on trying to regularly update this blog.... either no time or mood prevented me from reading the news altogheter. Or simply I've been overwhelmed by the amount and quality of the bad news that constantly reach me.
Constant problems to solve, worries and pety things have paved the way to what can only be described as death and desaster... But after a storm comes the calm. And those still standing strive.
Marking a new period, this is the first post with science and technology in the foreground.
Technology:
-The Five Stages of Data Loss Grief. So very true...
-Skip the hard cell: Flexible solar power is on its way. Slim, bendy and versatile, they consume just a fraction of the materials - and costs - of a traditional photovoltaic device. Sounds nice, but it's not the most efficient technique in existance. So why the fuss, if these devices are no more efficient than what went before? The key is that although these cells are merely as efficient as conventional devices, they use only about a hundredth of the material.
-Solar impulse. It was not moving much faster than a bicycle, but the Solar powered airplan has taken to the skies this week for its maiden flight.
-Air detectives know where the bodies are buried. It's a bit creappy this news, but interesting.
Science:
-Russian scientists discover heavy new element. Data collected by the team seem to support what theorists have long suspected: that as newly created elements become heavier and heavier they will eventually become much more stable and longer-lived than the fleeting bits of artificially produced matter seen so far.
-The LHC is working! and produced the first reliable data. Last week’s milestone marks the beginning of what is being described as a new era for physics, an era which may answer some of the fundamental questions about our universe.
